The Rt Hon. the Lord Hamilton of Epsom

The Rt Hon. the Lord Hamilton of Epsom was born Archibald Gavin Hamilton on 30 December 1941 in England, and is a Conservative Life peer sitting in the House of Lords since 17 June 2005. He previously sat in the House Of Commons as MP for Epsom and Ewell.


Currently sitting on the National Security Strategy (Joint Committee) (since December 2015), Lord Hamilton of Epsom does not chair at this time.

He has in the past sat on EU Sub Committee A - Economic and Financial Affairs (May 2012 to Mar 2015), EU Sub-Committee A - Economic and Financial Affairs, and International Trade (Jun 2010 to May 2012), EU Sub-Committee C - Foreign Affairs, Defence and Development Policy (Nov 2006 to Apr 2010), Standards and Privileges (Oct 1996 to Mar 1997), Members' Interests (Jul 1995 to Nov 1995), Standards in Public Life (Nov 1994 to Nov 1995).


In the past, Lord Hamilton of Epsom has held the position of Minister of State (Ministry of Defence) (1988 to 1993), Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Ministry of Defence) (Procurement) (1986 to 1987), Lord Commissioner (HM Treasury) (Whip) (1984 to 1986), Assistant Whip (HM Treasury) (1982 to 1984) in government.

He was Chair, Conservative Party 1922 Committee.
