Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP was born Andrew Mitchell on 23 March 1956 in London, England and is the Conservative MP for Sutton Coldfield. He has been an MP since 07 June 2001 and has previously sat in the House of Commons for Gedling.


In the past, Mr Andrew Mitchell has held the position of Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury and Chief Whip (2012 to 2012), Secretary of State for International Development (2010 to 2012), Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department of Social Security) (1995 to 1997), Lord Commissioner (HM Treasury) (Whip) (1994 to 1995), Assistant Whip (HM Treasury) (1992 to 1994) in government.

He was Shadow Secretary of State (Home Office) (2005 to 2010), Shadow Minister (Home Affairs) (2004 to 2005), Shadow Minister (Treasury) (2003 to 2004) in opposition.

He was Vice-Chair, Conservative Party.
