Mrs Sharon Hodgson MP was born Sharon Hodgson on 01 April 1966 in Gateshead, England and is the Labour MP for Washington and Sunderland West.


Mrs Sharon Hodgson is currently Shadow Minister (Public Health), an opposition position she has held since October 2016.

In the past, Mrs Sharon Hodgson has held the position of Assistant Whip (HM Treasury) (2009 to 2010) in government.

She was Shadow Minister (Education) (2015 to 2016), Shadow Minister (Equalities) (2013 to 2015), Shadow Minister (Education) (2010 to 2013), Opposition Whip (Commons) (2010 to 2010) in opposition.


Mrs Sharon Hodgson has the following specific interests :
Politics - North/South divide, employment (especially green and engineering/manufacturing jobs), education, special educational needs and disabilities, health (especially cancer and public health issues), transport, child poverty, child hunger and nutrition, free school meals, ticket touting, arts education, basketball, culture (especially arts, creative industries and heritage), LGBT issues, automotive industry.
