The Rt Hon. the Baroness Hayman GBE was born Helene Valerie Hayman on 26 March 1949 , and is a Crossbench Life peer sitting in the House of Lords since 02 January 1996. She previously sat in the House Of Commons as MP for Welwyn and Hatfield.


In the past, Baroness Hayman has held the position of Minister of State (Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food) (1999 to 2001), Minister (Department of Health) (1998 to 1999), Minister of State (Department for Environment, Transport and the Regions) (1997 to 1998) in government.

She was Lord Speaker.
