The Earl of Lindsay was born James Lindesay-Bethune on 19 November 1955 , and is a Conservative Excepted Hereditary peer sitting in the House of Lords since 21 December 1989.


Currently sitting on the EU Financial Affairs Sub-Committee (since June 2015), The Earl of Lindsay does not chair at this time.

He has in the past sat on Partnerships (Prosecution) (Scotland) Bill Special Public Bill Committee (Jan 2013 to Feb 2013), Select Committee on Science and Technology Sub-Committee 2 (Dec 2004 to May 2005), EU Sub-Committee C (Jan 1998 to Nov 1999), EU Sub-Committee C (Nov 1993 to Nov 1995).
