Rt Hon Dr Liam Fox MP was born Liam Fox on 22 September 1961 in East Kilbride , Scotland and is the Conservative MP for North Somerset.

Dr Liam Fox is currently Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade, a government position he has held since July 2016.

In the past, Dr Liam Fox has held the position of Secretary of State for Defence (2010 to 2011), Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) (1996 to 1997), Lord Commissioner (HM Treasury) (Whip) (1995 to 1996), Assistant Whip (HM Treasury) (1994 to 1995) in government.

He was Shadow Secretary of State for Defence (2005 to 2010), Shadow Secretary of State (Foreign Affairs) (2005 to 2005), Without portfolio (2003 to 2005), Shadow Secretary of State for Health (1999 to 2003), Opposition Spokesperson (Constitutional Affairs, Scotland and Wales) (1998 to 1999) in opposition.
