The Rt Hon. the Lord Tyler

Life peer


The Rt Hon. the Lord Tyler was born Paul Tyler on 29 October 1941 , and is a Liberal Democrat Life peer sitting in the House of Lords since 15 June 2005. He previously sat in the House Of Commons as MP for North Cornwall and Bodmin.


Currently sitting on the Delegated Powers and Regulatory Reform Committee (since June 2015), Lord Tyler does not chair at this time.

He has in the past sat on Trade Union Political Funds and Political Party Funding Committee (Jan 2016 to Feb 2016), Draft House of Lords Reform Bill (Joint Committee) (Jul 2011 to Mar 2012), Procedure Committee (Lords) (Dec 2008 to May 2013), Draft Constitutional Renewal Bill (Joint Committee) (May 2008 to Jul 2008), Conventions (Joint Committee) (May 2006 to Oct 2006), EU Sub-Committee E - Justice and Institutions (May 2005 to Nov 2006), House of Lords Reform (Joint Committee) (Jun 2002 to May 2005), Modernisation of the House of Commons (Jun 1998 to Jul 2005), Finance and Services Committee (Nov 1997 to May 2001), Parliamentary Privilege (Joint Committee) (Jul 1997 to Nov 1999), Committee of Selection (May 1997 to May 2001), Procedure Committee (Apr 1992 to Nov 1997).


Lord Tyler is currently Liberal Democrat Lords Spokesperson (Constitutional and Political Reform), an opposition position he has held since June 2015.
