The Baroness Gale

Life peer


The Baroness Gale was born Anita Gale on 28 November 1940 , and is a Labour Life peer sitting in the House of Lords since 04 August 1999.


Currently sitting on the Lord Speaker's Advisory Panel on Works of Art (since January 2017), Select Committee on Charities (since May 2016), Baroness Gale does not chair at this time.

She has in the past sat on Works of Art Committee (Lords) (May 2013 to Aug 2016), Refreshment Committee (Lords) (Jun 2012 to Jun 2013), Works of Art Committee (Lords) (Nov 2009 to May 2012), EU Sub-Committee G - Social Policies and Consumer Protection (May 2005 to Nov 2009), Statutory Instruments (Joint Committee) (Dec 2003 to Oct 2007), Information Committee (Lords) (Nov 2002 to Nov 2004), Library and Computers Sub Committee (Jun 2001 to Nov 2002).


Baroness Gale is currently Shadow Spokesperson (Equalities and Women's Issues), an opposition position she has held since January 2017.

She was Opposition Whip (Lords) (2010 to 2013) in opposition.
