The Rt Hon. the Baroness Morris of Yardley was born Estelle Morris on 17 June 1952 , and is a Labour Life peer sitting in the House of Lords since 14 June 2005. She previously sat in the House Of Commons as MP for Birmingham Yardley.


Currently sitting on the Citizenship and Civic Engagement Committee (since June 2017), Baroness Morris of Yardley does not chair at this time.

She has in the past sat on Social Mobility Committee (Jun 2015 to Mar 2016), Secondary Legislation Scrutiny Committee (May 2012 to May 2014), Merits of Statutory Instruments Committee (Nov 2009 to May 2012), Consolidation etc. Bills (Joint Committee) (Apr 1992 to Dec 1994).


In the past, Baroness Morris of Yardley has held the position of Minister of State (Department for Culture, Media and Sport) (Arts) (2003 to 2005), Secretary of State for Education and Skills (2001 to 2002), Minister of State (Department for Education and Employment) (School Standards) (1998 to 2001), Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department for Education and Employment) (1997 to 1998) in government.
