Rt Hon Keith Vaz

Rt Hon Keith Vaz was born Nigel Keith Anthony Standish Vaz on 26 November 1956 in Aden, Yemen and is the Labour MP for Leicester East.

Rt Hon Keith Vaz ceased to be a member of the House of Commons on 03 May 2017 (general election).


In the past, Keith Vaz has held the position of Minister of State (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) (1999 to 2001), Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Lord Chancellor's Department) (1999 to 1999) in government.

He was Shadow Spokesperson (Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) (1992 to 1997) in opposition.

He was Member, Labour Party National Executive Committee.
