The Rt Hon. the Baroness Anelay of St Johns DBE was born Joyce Anelay on 17 July 1947 , and is a Conservative Life peer sitting in the House of Lords since 14 October 1996.


Baroness Anelay of St Johns is currently Minister of State (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) , a government position she has held since August 2014.

In addition to this role, she is also Deputy Speaker (Lords).

In the past, Baroness Anelay of St Johns has held the position of Minister of State (Department for International Development) (2016 to 2016), Minister of State (Department for Business, Innovation and Skills) (Trade and Investment) (2016 to 2016), Captain of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms (HM Household) (Chief Whip, House of Lords) (2010 to 2014) in government.

She is currently Deputy Speaker (Lords) , and was Deputy Chairman of Committees (Lords)
