Sir Alan Meale MP



Sir Alan Meale MP was born Joseph Alan Meale on 31 July 1949 in Bishop Auckland , England and is the Labour MP for Mansfield.


Currently sitting on the Finance Committee (Commons) (since November 2016), Panel of Chairs (since January 2011), Sir Alan Meale does not chair at this time.

He has in the past sat on Draft Voting Eligibility (Prisoners) Bill (Mar 2013 to Dec 2013), Crossrail Bill (Dec 2005 to Nov 2007), Draft Gambling Bill (Joint Committee) (Jul 2003 to Jul 2004), Court of Referees (Jul 1999 to Jul 2002), Home Affairs Committee (Dec 1989 to Mar 1992), European Legislation Sub-Committee I (Jul 1989 to Jan 1990), European Legislation (Feb 1988 to Dec 1989). He has also chaired in the past Crossrail Bill (Dec 2005 to Nov 2007).


In the past, Sir Alan Meale has held the position of Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department of Environment) (1998 to 1999) in government.

He was Opposition Whip (Commons) (1992 to 1994) in opposition.
