Rt Hon David Davis MP was born David Michael Davis on 23 December 1948 in York, England and is the Conservative MP for Haltemprice and Howden. He has been an MP since 11 July 2008 and has previously sat in the House of Commons for Haltemprice and Howden and Boothferry.

Mr David Davis is currently Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, a government position he has held since July 2016.

In the past, Mr David Davis has held the position of Minister of State (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) (1994 to 1997), Parliamentary Secretary (Duchy of Lancaster Office) (1993 to 1994), Assistant Whip (HM Treasury) (1990 to 1993) in government.

He was Shadow Secretary of State (Home Office) (2003 to 2008), Shadow Lord Chancellor and Shadow Secretary of State for Justice (also Shadow Minister for London) (2002 to 2003), Without portfolio (2001 to 2002) in opposition.
