The Rt Hon. the Lord Taylor of Holbeach CBE was born John Taylor on 12 November 1943 , and is a Conservative Life peer sitting in the House of Lords since 31 May 2006.


Currently sitting on the Services Committee (since September 2016), Sub-Committee on Leave of Absence (since June 2015), Selection, Committee of (Lords) (since October 2014), Procedure Committee (Lords) (since October 2014), Privileges and Conduct, Committee for (Lords) (since October 2014), Accommodation Steering Group (since August 2014), Lord Taylor of Holbeach does not chair at this time.

He has in the past sat on Administration and Works Committee (Lords) (Oct 2014 to Aug 2016).


Lord Taylor of Holbeach is currently Captain of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms (HM Household) (Chief Whip, House of Lords), a government position he has held since August 2014.

In addition to this role, he is also Deputy Chairman of Committees (Lords).

In the past, Lord Taylor of Holbeach has held the position of Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Home Office) (2012 to 2014), Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) (2011 to 2012) in government.
