Rt Hon Yvette Cooper MP

Rt Hon Yvette Cooper MP was born Yvette Cooper on 20 March 1969 in Inverness, Scotland and is the Labour MP for Normanton, Pontefract and Castleford.


In the past, Yvette Cooper has held the position of Secretary of State for Work and Pensions (2009 to 2010), Chief Secretary to the Treasury (2008 to 2009), Minister of State (Department of Communities and Local Government) (Housing) (2007 to 2008), Minister of State (Department of Communities and Local Government) (Housing and Planning) (2006 to 2007), Minister of State (Office of the Deputy prime Minister) (Housing and Planning) (2005 to 2006), Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Office of the Deputy Prime Minister) (Regeneration and Regional Developement) (2003 to 2005), Parliamentary Secretary (Lord Chancellor's Department) (2002 to 2003), Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Department of Health) (1999 to 2002) in government.

She was Shadow Home Secretary (2011 to 2015), Shadow Minister (Equalities Office) (Women and Equalities) (2011 to 2013), Shadow Foreign secretary and Minister for Women and Equalities (2010 to 2011), Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions (2010 to 2010) in opposition.
