The Lord Ashton of Hyde was born Thomas Henry Ashton on 18 July 1958 , and is a Conservative Excepted Hereditary peer sitting in the House of Lords since 25 July 2011.

Currently sitting on the Consultative Panel on Parliamentary Security (since June 2015), Lord Ashton of Hyde does not chair at this time.

He has in the past sat on Insurance Bill [HL] Special Public Bill Committee (Nov 2014 to Dec 2014), The Arctic (Jun 2014 to Jul 2014).
