Sir Gerald Howarth MP was born James Gerald Douglas Howarth on 12 September 1947 in Guildford, England and is the Conservative MP for Aldershot. He has been an MP since 01 May 1997 and has previously sat in the House of Commons for Cannock and Burntwood .

Currently sitting on the National Security Strategy (Joint Committee) (since November 2015), Sir Gerald Howarth does not chair at this time.

He has in the past sat on Armed Forces Bill Committee (Dec 2005 to May 2006), Defence Committee (Jul 2001 to Nov 2003), Home Affairs Committee (Jul 1997 to May 2001), Sound Broadcasting (Feb 1987 to May 1987).
