Rt Hon Dr Julian Lewis MP was born Julian Murray Lewis on 26 September 1951 in Swansea , Wales and is the Conservative MP for New Forest East.


Currently sitting on the Committees on Arms Export Controls (formerly Quadripartite Committee) (since February 2016), National Security Strategy (Joint Committee) (since November 2015), Liaison Committee (Commons) (since September 2015), Defence Sub-Committee (since September 2015), Dr Julian Lewis chairs the Defence Committee (June 2015).

He has in the past sat on Defence Committee (Nov 2014 to Mar 2015), Committees on Arms Export Controls (formerly Quadripartite Committee) (Nov 2014 to Mar 2015), Intelligence and Security Committee of Parliament (Sep 2010 to Mar 2015), Defence Committee (Feb 2000 to Oct 2001), Welsh Affairs Committee (Jun 1998 to May 2001).


He was Shadow Minister (Defence) (2005 to 2010), Shadow Minister (Cabinet Office) (2004 to 2005), Shadow Minister (Defence) (2002 to 2004), Opposition Whip (Commons) (2001 to 2002) in opposition.
