The Rt Hon. the Lord Howarth of Newport CBE was born Alan Thomas Howarth on 11 June 1944 in England, and is a Labour Life peer sitting in the House of Lords since 15 June 2005. He previously sat in the House Of Commons as MP for Newport East and Stratford-on-Avon.
