Rt Hon Peter Lilley was born Peter Bruce Lilley on 23 August 1943 in Bromley , England and is the Conservative MP for Hitchin and Harpenden.

Rt Hon Peter Lilley ceased to be a member of the House of Commons on 03 May 2017 (general election).

In the past, Mr Peter Lilley has held the position of Secretary of State for Social Security (1992 to 1997), Secretary of State for Trade (1990 to 1992), Financial Secretary (HM Treasury) (1989 to 1990), Economic Secretary (HM Treasury) (1987 to 1989) in government.

He was Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer (1997 to 1998) in opposition.

He was Deputy Leader of the Conservative Party.
