The Baroness Fookes DBE

The Baroness Fookes DBE was born Janet Evelyn Fookes on 21 February 1936 , and is a Conservative Life peer sitting in the House of Lords since 30 September 1997. She previously sat in the House Of Commons as MP for Plymouth Drake and Merton and Morden.


Baroness Fookes is currently Deputy Speaker (Lords), a parliamentary position she has held since November 2010.

In addition to this role, she is also Deputy Chairman of Committees (Lords).

She is currently Deputy Speaker (Lords), Deputy Chairman of Committees (Lords) , and was Second Deputy Chairman of Ways and Means
